THE ART CLASSES
THE ART CLASSES are a platform for children to create whilst building their own community. Working in small private classes, the teacher is able to get to know the students and create a timeline of projects. The progress of their dexterity, movement and overall collaboration changes with every class. Although each instruction has an intended project or craft, it is encouraged to be a free-form of expression, guided through play and exploration. Most of the materials are recycled and repurposed so children learn to value all the little things, creating meaningful momentos, gifts and souvenirs they can proudly display and keep forever.
THE TEACHER has been raised amongst art and artists in the very same space she hosts (some of) the classes today: since 1990. As the torch was passed and Masha inherited the space, she created a Westside Art hub. With a little help from friends, she hosted and curated over 40 Art shows featuring brilliant young artists. Today, STUDIO106 has evolved into a digital gallery space hosting ‘online exhibitions’ and ‘awareness projects’ linking artists and sharing relevant events from across the world.
With two children of her own, a new era began for the studio when Masha finally decided to open the doors inviting children and families to use the space in its’ most beloved form: STUDIO106KIDS! With a BA in History and Education and a teaching credential the STUDIO is finally a combination of all Masha’s joys: ART and COMMUNITY. While the pandemic limits the capacity of children inside the space, Masha travels with her art wagon, from park-to-park and yard-to-yard bringing the art and storytelling to you and your family.
